Concepts of Physics - H C Verma

I have used this book authored by H C Verma for my preparation for competitive examinations (IIT JEE, AIEEE, BITSAT) as well as a reference book during my Class-11th and Class-12th school studies.

This book explains all the concepts of High School Physics in a simple manner using real life examples. The problems and unsolved exercises at the end of each chapter test the concepts explained exhaustively. The chapters are also structured and sequenced well. The book can be followed completely by own self while keeping synchronization with normal School syllabus.

The inter-relationship between concepts are well explained and the content blends well into the context. One classic example is the relationship established between Kinematics and Work, Energy and Power.

The book has two volumes: Part-1 and Part-2. I used Part-1 as a reference book during Class-11th of CBSE and Part-2 as a reference book during Class-12th of CBSE.

This book has a healthy rating in Amazon.

Digital Logic and Computer Design - Morris Mano

I have used this book by Morris Mano during my BE course on Digital Electronics. This book is written in an easy to understand language. It includes the basic concepts of Boolean Algebra with some elementary problems and solved examples, non-sequential logical circuits using GATES, sequential logical circuits using Feedback circuits. Finally the book also includes implementing such digital circuits using basic components such as diodes and transistors.

The chapter on Boolean Algebra is quite exhaustive in coverage of the different concepts of simplifying the logical expressions. It includes a combination of simple and complex problems and solved examples which are helpful in getting started with the concepts of Digital Electronics.

The book is nicely structured and the flow of the concepts has been designed in such a way that it becomes very easy for beginners to attain the needed expertise and pursue more advanced concepts either in this book or from other books on Digital Electronics. This book can be used in conjunction to other courses on Basic Electronics.

Fundamentals of Physics - Resnick, Halliday and Walker

For learning the basic and advanced concepts of Physics, the book by Resnick, Halliday and Walker is the ideal book for all levels including beginners, intermediate and expert level students. This book is unique in its style of explaining the most complex concepts in the simplest of ways. The examples quoted in the book are very much related to real life. The numerical values used in the problems are close to real life values.

The book is not recommended if you are looking for quick short-cut preparations. The explanations are very detailed and easy to understand but they need patience and time on the part of the reader. The chapters on Kinematics, Newton's Laws and Work & Energy have amazing clarity of concepts.

The conceptual exercises and numerical problems in the book are chosen from real life examples. So solving the problems needs you to apply your practical acumen more than theoretical knowledge.
